3rd 4th 5th went to visit Moanvane wind farm yesterday as part of the Green Schools Climate Ambassadors programme and Discover Primary Science/ Curious Minds Programme. The children were given a talk on the importance of using renewable energy and wind energy in particular. They also put on hard hats and safety vests for a tour of the windfarm. They even got a chance to go into one of the wind turbines!. Many thanks to Barry, Cormac, John and James for giving their time to facilitate our very enjoyable visit. A big thank you also to Statkraft for their kind invitation and for providing our transport. They also gifted the children with a goodie bag each and donated gardening equipment to the school. The children really enjoyed the day and learned a lot about how green energy is generated in our community.
