📚🌍 World Book Day 🌍📚

6th Mar 2025
Our World Book Day celebration was such a tremendous success today. It was truly a delight to see our students embrace their love of reading by coming to school dressed as their favourite characters today. The creativity and enthusiasm displayed through the costumes were nothing short of amazing. The homemade creations, up-cycling and recycling of items were so clever, and we were delighted to see such sustainable and no-cost or low-cost costumes be embraced. The conversations about books and authors that the costumes sparked was just fantastic. Thank you for the time and effort you dedicated to making this day special for our children.

A special thank you also goes out to all the talented students who participated in our World Book Day competition. The entries were impressive, showcasing the wonderful imagination and creativity within our school community. Your support in encouraging your children to read and express themselves creatively is invaluable.  1st Class gave a very impressive whole school performance of a poem about reading, our 6th Clas Senior Yard Buddies showed excellent leadership qualities when they took charge of organising and leading activities at break time (audiobooks/scanned by QR codes, big books and books on the YOTO), every class met up with their Buddy Class for some shared reading opportunities and Tullamore Library spoke with the children on Zoom to share with them all the incredible resources available at our local libraries. We are blessed to have so many incredible local libraries in both Offaly and Laois e.g. Tullamore, Daingean, Edenderry, Birr, Mountmellick and Portarlington.  Here is the link to the website with information on our local libraries, what's on at each branch, and more.... https://www.offaly.ie/libraries/

Promoting reading as a positive and enjoyable activity is a goal we strive for, and events like World Book Day highlight the importance of fostering a love for books within our community. Together, we can inspire a lifelong passion for reading in our children.
